Well just by luck Willie Nelson was playing at a theater 200 yards from my boat last night so we had a good old Texas time seeing one of Americas greatest composers in an intimate setting. They served cheap mixed drinks, beer and wine in the foyer but you could not take them into the theater itself. Willie was great and sounded exactly like his recordings in person.
Also just by chance a large cruising vessel tied up directly astern of us last night. The skipper was none other than Kevin Dukes who used to play with Boz Scaggs and others. He did not play for us, but we got to talk with him for a couple of hours. We talked about our boats, guitar collections(mostly his), our investment strategies. He has lived a pretty cool life.
I also have to say if you vist PC do not bother eating at Ferruci Ristoranti. It was the second worst Italian dinner I have ever had. Locals say that it is very different because it is so authentic. I have spent alot of time in Itally and the worst Itallian dinner I had was in Naples.
Here is the Ferruci recipe for spaghetti Bolognese . Buy your spaghetti at walmart after boiling it rinse the spaghetti mercilessly until it has no flavor left. Boil but do not spice some tomatoes. Break up hamburger into as small of peices as you can then boil the pieces changing the water regularly. Taste after each change of water. It is done when you can neither feel the meat in your mouth or taste it. Mix it all together and mention how authentic it is when serving.
The real but funny part
Yesterday my dad and I wanted to go pick up a cable since the marina offers free cable TV. We decided to ride our bikes instead of taking the trolley since the GPS showed that the Walmart was just 5 miles away.
Well we should have called because when we got there the Walmart we went to was closed last week. So we checked the GPS for the next closest and it showed 5 miles to go.
That was the longest 5 miles I have ever seen. The GPS shows 5 miles as the crow flies. It was actually more like 10 with my 73 year old dad riding on a fold up bike with me. He did great. My friends back home know that I do a trip like that pretty regularly.
Needless to say we took the trolley back. They are equiped with bicycle carriers in PC.
