07 November 2009 | Back in the bay after 2 days at Fort Meyers Beach
Terry/ still Windy Rolly and just a little too cool
We had a blast at Fort Meyers beach. It may not be the best beach in Florida but there is a lot to do packed into a small area. That is perfect for those who get around by foot or bicycle like us. Add to that the fact that Fort Myers beach is on sale. We found well drinks for 2 bucks and beers for a buck fifty right on the main drag at the beach. This is a beach town where bikinis and shirtless men go right into the restaurants and eat. As you can imagine that could be good or bad but always laid back. You can rent a Harley there and swim and play easy rider.
Most accents are not American. Especially, the Harley riders.
At this moment I am contemplating whether the weather should be stopping us from heading for Key West. One track has a weak tropical storm going down the West coast of Florida. Once we head south of Fort Myers there is no place to hide from a storm. Making the decision very difficult is the fact that ever since we have been on the ocean we have noticed that tropical weather is a major ratings boost for the news channels here. No matter how remote or even impossible it is that where you are at will be hit the news channels will insist that it could come right at us any time so be sure to tune in to our next forecast. It is like the remotest chance of ice in Dallas will cause all local programming to prempted for a day or two so that they can constantly tell you nothing is happening but it could.
Terry will be the official skipper since he is the only one that navigates right now.
Ski is Terry's father and will be the first mate since he is the only other sailor.
Debbie, is Terry's wife and will be officially a swab, but she is looking for promotion. [...]
JoAnn is the matriarch of the group and while her sailing titile will be swab she does have 2 votes on the destination committee. The skipper can overrule for safety reasons, but if JoAnn can get just one other person to vote with her that will be where we go.
Princess is our Boston Terrior. Her position on the boat is obvious.
Misty is our miniature chihuahua. She will be our translator in Spanish Speaking Countries.
