Visiting Coconut Grove
This entry will be the first of what in the future will be short blog entries.
We travelled 51 miles from our anchorage on the outside at Rodriguez Key, through Angelfish Creek at high tide and up Biscayne Bay to the Dinner Key mooring field, transiting up Hawk Channel on the way. Gatsby motored along with us.
We spent 4 days and nights exploring Coconut Grove and environs. Highlights included the Amazing Vizcaya Estate and the Barnacle Museum as well as local restaurants. We also spent a day with Bill, on Sea Mist, a former buddy boat.
We are very happy with the results from removing and cleaning our outboard's carburetor and using a new additive. The outboard started on the first pull four times in a row. It had never started on the first pull in the 3 years we have had it. This was great as we had a long run into Coconut Grove from the mooring field. On the negative side, we needed to recharge our 2 4d batteries every night despite keeping usage low. Solar panels may be in the future!
