One More Try for Spanish Wells!
06 March 2016 | Great Harbour Cay Marina
Back to Nassau for Sunday and Monday, February 28th and 29th. We took the opportunity to provision while there and treated ourselves to a great dinner at the Poop Deck on the final night.
Tuesday morning we headed out of Nassau and again the wind and waves would be on the nose if we headed for Spanish Wells - this time we gave up and headed west instead to Chub Cay. This decision means we are not going to the Abacos this year! I emailed Great Harbour Cay to confirm space and booked us there for a week instead.
We had a good sail and a quiet night at anchor at Chub Cay. Next morning we had calm seas for the 50 mile run to Great Harbour. Ron hooked a Mahi while we were in the Tongue of the Ocean, the deep water, but just as he got it up to the boat, it took a final leap and spit out the hook! The rest of the day was across the bank and too shallow to fish. We arrived and docked at 4 pm and this will be home for the next week!
