Back to the Land and Sea Park
06 March 2016
Sunday, February 21st - after aborting the sail to Spanish Wells because of huge waves on the nose, we headed across the Yellow Bank and back to Shroud Cay. The bank is shallow with very clear water. We could see dolphins coming towards the boat from both sides, like torpedoes through the water. They played along side us and finally moved to our bow wave - what an awesome sight!
We picked up a mooring at Shroud Cay and had a very quiet night so decided to stay a second night. We dinghied through the mangrove creek to the ocean side but the wind had picked up and it was hard to see with the ripples on the water. Our second night was a little rolly and since winds were forecast to build, we called Warderick Wells for a reservation.
We ended up at Warderick Wells for four days waiting for the front to go through. We had happy hour on two of those nights with a great group of cruisers - some we had met before, some new.
Finally on Saturday, February 27th the winds had calmed and we moved back up to Shroud Cay with plans to head to Nassau again and try for Spanish Wells once more.
