Three more days in Georgia
18 April 2016 | Georgia
Friday, April 8th - After a very quiet night at anchor, we travelled another 32 miles to St. Simon's Island and Morningstar Marina. We are getting desperate for groceries and they have a courtesy car that you can use for 1 hour - just enough time to get to the grocery store and back. This is a beautiful area - probably worth a visit by road some time.
Next stop, 55 miles away is Kilkenny Creek where we anchored in 9 feet of water just past the marina. Tides are almost 10 feet with the new moon, so it requires careful planning! There is not much here - a small marina and a restaurant. From the water the restaurant seemed empty but when Ron walked Buddy he counted over 50 cars in the parking lot! I guess we should have tried it.
Sunday, April 10th - 27 miles today, a short day, and we tied up at Thunderbolt, Georgia. There are few anchorages in this area with shore access for the dog. We had hoped to buy shrimp here from the shrimp fleet next door, but it just a little too early in the season.
