After leaving our port, Yaringa in Westernport Victoria 5th May 2012 we have now made it to Sydney. NSW. Not stopping we are heading to Pittwater to tie up for a couple of days.
The journey from Yaringa, where we emotionally farewelled family and friends, has been wonderful.
Although not leaving Westernport the same day we picked up a swing mooring near Cowes, because of rough seas, and managed to leave the following day making our way to Refuge Cove. A very picturesque spot off Wilsons Prom. Here we met 4 guys from the vessel 'Devils Lair'. Their Cruiser could do in a couple of hours which took us all day, so they kept in touch and radioed ahead with anything that was of interest to us.
After anchoring at RC for a few days we then set off to Lakes Entrance. Made it through the sand bar late that night without a hitch.
Heavy weather now kept us at LE for four days. Finally able to leave on the 15th May we set sail now for the longest part of our journey, up to Eden, on the border of Vic and NSW.
22hours later, and rather cold and tired we motored into Twofold Bay,Eden. Here we anchored in another lovely spot in Quarantine Bay.
Stayed for 2 days to get some r&r.
Early start Thurs 17th bound for Bermagui. The weather was beautiful but we had to motor sail arriving 1500hrs. to a very pretty fishing town. Made famous by the American writer Zane Grey.
The next morning we set off later than usual on our way to Broulee Island. On our way catching a tuna. We anchored for the night at Broulee and left early next morning for Jervis Bay. Picked up a mooring here arriving 1630hrs. Also met up with the guys from 'Devils Lair'
Our trip out of Jervis Bay was very rough with high swell, but it soon settled down but again we had very little wind, so motor sailed to our next stop Port Hacking.
This is where our story brings us to motor sailing past Sydney to Pittwater.
