Final part 3 of the sail......

So, this is the last bit of the sail - less than 1/2 an hour for all 3 parts so I hope that's not too bad.....

Thoughts on kit.....
06 August 2014
I had Musto BR2 kit ( I'm not convinced about Gore-Tex -I don't like how it feels so damp when wet....) and the BR2 has Musto's own barrier material. I bought large but wished I had gone for a size up so more layers could go underneath, and so large gloves could be used inside the cuffs rather than outside. I had cheap Musto deck wellies with thermal liners and was envious of Dubarry sea boots that Colleen and John had. The beanie hats were not warm enough and I bought a wind-blocker fleece hat in Greenland. My Vango Symphony sleeping bag was good apart from the anti-catch zip which caught a lot. I took an ex-army bivvy bag and used it when condensation/leaks started above my bunk - worth every penny. I had Heat-Holder thermal socks to help keep the cold away. Charging electronics was a hassle and both 12v and 240/110v charging appliances are a good idea. A small waterproof camera would be a good idea, as would be decent binoculars. No big surprises on the kit front really. Cold feet on watch were my main gripe and that's probably my own circulation - not the boots. Merino wool long sleeved vests were really good - mine were from Craghoppers. Mosquito head nets were essential. Hope that helps. Martin

Well, home sweet home. I have decided there is not much more I want to say about the end of the venture. The end was not the crews choice and I personally want to spend more time in the Arctic, sailing , if anyone is willing.....Thank you to everyone on here and through Facebook who has been supportive. It is always a shock when your dreams are thwarted.
