Getting up close and personal with a 96 year old. (now 97!)

A very special salty dog left us today. Dandy, faithful companion to our good friends Nick and Karen (Cruinneag III) and special friend to many classic yachtspersons from the Med to the Caribbean succumbed to cancer and has embarked on her greatest voyage to date. She leaves behind her some very special memories. The podium in Antibes last year, I think, wearing a "Rowdy girl" T shirt is one that stands out, not to mention the numerous POBs ("Poomba" over board)(her squeeky toy).
A veteran of many classic regattas and most lately the ARC and Antigua Classic week, she will be sorely missed around the Classic regatta circuit. My thoughts go to Nick and Karen, who we miss a lot, and hope that these few words can ease slightly the pain of losing a cherished companion.
