Heading South.
11 February 2016
What a difference a day makes to a long range weather forecast.
Yesterday we were battening down the hatches for the weekend; today were hoping for more rain. That rascally old cyclone has decided to turn to port and give us a 200ml swerve. Phew!
Steve was 30mls off Hokianga Harbour late this afternoon motor sailing in a light SW wind. Not the best quarter for heading south and he'll probably have the wind on the nose for another day.
From Saturday though, the wind is going to come around to aft of the beam (sailor talk for behind). The long range forecast is looking better today as well. Last day to arrive looks like Tuesday now.
Steve has 60hrs diesel left which is good, he's in good spirits, a little tired and should be into some better wind on Saturday. ME
