Friday, 12 March 2010--NEWS FLASH--ARISTEA CROSSES THE EQUATOR AT 1935 UTC (1435 U.S. EST). CREW CELEBRATES WITH ONE CAN EACH OF NON-ALCOHOLIC BEER. HONORARY CREW-MEMBERS SALUTED BY ALL HANDS. FATHER NEPTUNE DECLINES TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATION. Crew-Member Peter Holmes was heard to say, "Despite the no-show by Papa Nep, I haven't seen as wild a celebration as this since Carnaval." Master Chef Jon was quoted as saying, "Father Neptune will be sorry he missed my hors d'oeuvres". Watch-Stander-in-Training (soon to graduate) Brian Lee, exclaimed, "I have been looking for that old guy all day. I want to see if he's really as old as the skipper." (Continued...)

CROSSING THE EQUATOR!!!!!

Friday, 12 March 2010--ARISTEA expects to cross the equator this afternoon. It will be great to have ARISTEA back in the northern hemisphere, as it is to have her back in the western hemisphere, after her prolonged (10-year) absence from both. (It is also great to have her out in the open sea again after her bureaucratic and other misadventures in Brazil.) We are now headed directly for Bermuda (323 T), 2,460 miles distant. While it is too early to predict an ETA with any assurance, my best guess (the operative word being "guess") is Tuesday, 30 March, 18 days from now. (Continued...)
