Moving into the Fwd Berth
14 September 2010 | Auckland
All new ceilings throughout and with everything to the stage of needing final painting/varnishing, some edgings or doors fitted, it now just leaves the only area we have not touched yet. The Forward Cabin. Fwd of this is the Anchor Well which we knew we would need to reconstruct due to rot in the support beams and deck we had found earlier.
Removing the lower 2/3 of the front bulkhead has allowed us to gain access into the lower anchor well and remove the false bottom and poor glassing and reinstate a new more purposeful self draining floor and scarf in a new bulkhead.
2 days grinding the hull - so reglassing can be done.
The cabin floor will be removed soon to enable a more purposeful substrate to be constructed.
All will be finished in a similar fashion to the Aft Cabin giving a more modern finish with cleaner more rounded lines.
