Heading from St. Barths to St. Kitts
20 June 2010 | St. Kitts
Up early this morning to prepare for our sail to St. Kitts. Bye Sam and Lisa!! We had a riot hanging out with you guys the last few days! I'll post our photos on facebook.
Our sail was very trying today, lasting almost 7 hours in high seas and winds gusting to 27 knots. The sail was easy until we past the horn on St. Kitts and then we got the beeejesus knocked out of us without making much headway. We had 16, yes 16, things that broke on board today....I think Alf might reef the ship:)
A few of the things that broke: Alf's shoe, fishing reel, the whole auto pilot, we had hydraulic fluid spitting from the helm for most the sail, coffee grinder split and coffee went everywhere in the galley, generator stopped working again, closet door completely fell off, water in cabin under port side hull, water coming in everywhere through starboard saloon window, latch on port side topside storage broke, windlass will not let down anchor-it will only pull up rode, VHS radio quit working, and a few other small things. When we discovered the windlass was broken we decided to head to the marina. We have our work cut out for us again....
