Finally leaving Pensacola!

13 December 2011
After spending ten days in Pensacola, we have finally moved! During the time we were there, both me and my mom got sick, and my dad’s getting sick now. We went to Pensacola Christian College, which I believe I wrote about already. Tonight, we are in Joe’s Bayou. We had an incredible day of traveling today. This morning, we were traveling through absolutely transparent water. I looked down, and saw straight to the bottom. I was thinking, “wow, we’re about to run aground…” when my dad shouts out “This is in nineteen-and-a-half feet of water!” It was amazing. I got my mom out of the boat, and me and her stood on the bow looking into the water. And then. And then, an enormous number of jellyfish started passing under our boat. I thought maybe jellyfish just traveled in groups. But no. We were almost constantly traveling over jellyfish, and even now we’re anchored where they come up right next to the boat. I had only just seen a jellyfish in the water (as in, not a squishy thing on the beach) two days after we got to Pensacola, but today was just incredible. Me and my mom were up on the bow of the boat ooh-ing and aah-ing about every one of them.
Lilo was upset about leaving the dock this morning. She looked at it like she was wondering where the dock was going. We passed two tow boats unreasonably close today; However, it was still farther away than when we passed a dredging flotilla, when we probably could have reached out and patted the boats. Overall, a nice day, and I’m so glad to be back on our path heading south. Finally.
Love,
Annakah on Kama Hele
