The Perfect Storm

We are all breathing a bit easier now that Hurricane Omar has moved past our position. Yesterdays forcaste had Omar traveling right over us. After taking everything down off the deck and securing ourselves in the protection of the mangroves here on Vieques, Omar passed to the south of us headed toward the US Virgins. We are still experiencing tropical storm force winds off and on. These are rain bands extending from the eye of Omar and carry heavy squall activity. Here in Ensanada Honda we hardly feel the winds and there are no seas to worry about. Later this morning I am going to launch the dinghy and check on our neighbors. We have friends on other boats here that we have not seen in quite a while. Looks like it is going to be a good day!
