Cruiser....landlubber...or somewhere in between

Ellen
We are going camping this weekend....in my sisters driveway. We are having a big birthday party to celebrate the sibs birthdays. She has a great yard for camping and expect to see a half dozen tents pitched around her yard. Sophie will be coming with us, no time like the present to get her used to it as we will be spending a month camping this winter in Florida. We have sites booked for the month of December in the keys and the west coast. We are definitely looking forward to the ease of camping versus taking the boat south. With the boat it is constant weather watching and a lot of preparation, not to mention cost. We expect our down time this winter will be shorter than usual and although we want an adventure, boating is stressful with any type of schedule. There is another extended cruise in our future, but this is not the right time.

We have done this camping trip before in our van, so this will be pure luxury with standing headroom, ac and an enclosed head.

We get restless and are usually ready for a change of scenery after 3 or 4 months....ever since we started this walk together 17 years ago this is how it has been. We are nomads, I guess.

About: This our fifth sailboat and more than likely our last. We bought our first sailboat in 10/97, having no experience, just a thirst for the unconventional. Sophie joined us while in the Keys 1/2010. She is a wonderful addition to the crew.
