Looking towards the future

Ellen/hot and humid
We are once again back on Cape Cod for the summer to work. So far, so good. But this is a cruising blog so lets talk about that. We arrived back from the Bahamas the second week of April, caught up with friends, did a little work to the house and packed up the van and headed north. We had a great time in the Bahamas, but we realized we had a very hard time relaxing.....I know it sounds crazy, but no matter how foot loose and fancy free we try to be, the work situation is always looming in the distance. Because we work in a tourist town, so much of it is timing your arrival. Too early, no work, too late, missed opportunities. I really have to have a little bit more confidence in us to keep this all going, and also just let things unfold......I know I have said that before on this blog, guess I haven't made as much progress in that department.
When we got back, I had such a sense of relief that I have accomplished my goal of sailing to the Bahamas. I felt like I could get back to business, have my life back, change my focus without the boat and sailing on my radar. I really believed I was maybe all set for a bit. Not wanting to sell the boat, just change directions for a couple years...........till I read today that our friends had gone through the canal and was in the Pacific!!!! Way too ambitious for this crew, but I could feel my mind and soul drifting back to that special place. The PURE FREEDOM we feel when we are on our own boat, living our life by our terms, success or failure. So thank you s/v Sunrise for giving me something to dream about once again, something to work for in the meantime as we trudge to our next job all the while dodging tourists on vacation. I am truly blessed on some many levels in my life. Your new post came at just the right time........CONGRATULATION!! Moral of this story, CONTROL IS AN ILLUSION, TO SURRENDER IS TO BE FREE.....Namaste
