Now in Fiji after getting away bit later than planed from Tonga was a 3 day 21 hr motor sail as little wind calm seas so was pretty smooth
Savusavu Copra Shed was a pleasant place to check in. The customs do mean business and have added a pre check in mooring so they can come aboard and spray for mosquitos. They are trying to keep Chicunguia out of the country and so far have managed. I also had to put a bond for $1500 for Chika refundable tho i am told ask a few days in advance and they give you Fiji $ back so you need to convert to currency for Marshals
Was amazing the grocery stores meat stores liquor stores and out door markets.. veggies a great selection and cheap. The restaurants we also very reasonable. So we stocked up Melanie and Jeff have jumped aboard to sail to Vunda Point where I will haul out.. My crew again discovered offshore sailing not his cup of tea. So departed back to BC shortly after arrival. NOw again i am in the South Pacific crewless and actually getting tired of wanabe sailors. I need to find more experienced offshore to do this next leg. I plan north to Japan.. the West to San Fran over the next 7 8 months.
Will see whom I can find in a month as Cyclone season approaching and want to on my way north to Marshals
Went to Curleys Seminar, So glad I did as without his way points we would not be able to find our way into bays like Namena Island the outer reef is just not visible till you are on top of it.. As it was we got out anchor chain wrapped around a coral head and had to have a diver unwrap it. We are now headed to Ovatu for a few days.. weaving through reefs.. Sailing at a nice clip with Barry Steering..
more from there... later
Vicky and Chika..
