We got into Monterey today and what a great place. We may stay here a few days and check out the city, sites and wonderful beach. Lots of site seeing and surfers it is quite entertaining. We went to Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club and had a great time with the members. They are very welcoming. On the way out of Soquel Bay we encountered some whales. I was on the bow taking pictures and then all of a sudden a bunch of anchovies jumped out of the water right at the bow of the boat. Not good is what I was thinking. There was a kayaker beside the boat and started yelling, "he is right under your boat!" Then he came up right beside the boat at the bow, and he had to be nearly brushing the bow! OMG, I was sooo scared I couldn't even take a picture. Do not ever want to be that close again. We saw whales all the way across the bay to Monterey. What a site. The picture you see is as the whale was moving from the bow of the boat.
