Be careful what you wish for
03 May 2017 | White Bay, Jost Van Dyke
Warm, light breeze, scattered showers
Tuesday morning, we escaped Soper's Hole with clean laundry and new provisions with hopes of getting a mooring at White Bay on Jost- this would be our third attempt!
Upon arrival, there were only two boats on moorings and one at anchor so we had several to choose from- yay! This is really a beautiful place with the dazzling clear blue water and white sandy beaches. It was very calm- flat in the mooring area with just a light breeze. Surprisingly, by early afternoon, this was the party place with three large catamarans stern into the beach and numerous snorkel tour boats. We took the dinghy ashore and joined the crowd for drinks at the Soggy Dollar bar. Next year, we'll bring a patch to add to the display of law enforcement patches on the ceiling!
Unfortunately, our relaxing afternoon was followed by a very rolly night beginning around 11:00pm. The swells weren't huge- just large and frequent enough to cause that sleep disrupting side to side roll. By 6 am we were up and prepared to leave! We may come back for an afternoon, but not an overnight!
On a side note, last time I mentioned the buoys being very close together and they red and green were reversed. Well, they have reset the buoys, farther apart, and they are now the correct with red right returning!
