Where the heck are we?? Did we take a wrong turn somewhere, I feel like we're back in Portland - gray and rainy. Definitely not what was advertised in the brochure. Last night was a long night. We passed through many squalls once darkness hit. The first squall hit around 9PM and gave us a major shwacking! By the time it was over we had a bit of a mess down below. The worst being the italian dressing which had flown off the counter and spilled all over the floor - leaving an oily, slippery mess. We also had a vegie catastrophe. Our hanging net in the outdoor cockpit area, which holds all our fresh vegies, was swinging out of control - wacking us in the head everytime we tried to pass by. The hooks holding it up finally gave way somewhere along the 3rd or 4th squall and we had flying vegies everywhere! We gathered up all the soggy and mashed vegies we could find and tossed them in the sink to deal with later. Needless to say, all this late night activity messed up our normal wa tch schedule, and we were both pretty wiped out so we went to 2 hours on, 2 hours off (normally we do 4 on, 4 off). As daylight came things settled down quite nicely. Still don't have the steady trade winds we are hoping for, but at least we are moving along in fairly calm conditions. Hopefully we can find them in the next 24 hours and really start heading west. Today has been a day of catching up on sleep and cleaning up the boat. I hope tonight doesn't bring the same squally conditions, but we will see... stay tuned! Lisa
