Sorry there is no picture but you can develop one in your own mind.

So we have three great grandaughters on board. Ages, give or take a small amount, 12, 14 and 16. But the bigger difference might be more in the school grade attitude.

The first week so far has been a challenge. Saw the two older girls, really only one grade in school apart, doing things that most young teenagers would do. Funny, funny, whisper, whisper and giggle, giggle. Not a very pleasant feeling and it was getting old. Not just for the adults but for the youngest one of the group. It was easy for Lisa and I to feel the tension and of course feel the difference of attitudes.

Ok, I know it is one of those things that creates a diversity of the younger people. The old addage of 2 is company and 3 is a crowd was very obvious. A night or two ago Lisa and I suggested a movei night. i.e. Captain Ron. The older girls said they had seen it already so they didn't want to bore us (really themselves) to watch it again. We relented. But tonight they had no choice so they watched it. Hard to say who really got a kick out of it but I think if anyone did it was Hanna. If the other two didn't get a kick, then it is their loss.

Today actually turned out to be consideraly more positive. Before we left the Blue Lagoon we took a dinghy ride over to the school where Philip (our village guide) goes to school. Now mind you Phillip is Methodist and he goes to a Catholic School. It is like the different religions share the school wealth (punn) but do not force an belief on any particular individual. I guess the one thing that is instilled in all of them was there is one God for all and in this kind of environment it is quite apprapoe.

Ok back to the school. The girls asked questions of the students and the students asked questions of the girls. The girls also had their names and mailing addresses to share with the students to write letters. We will see where that goes. The students sang songs for us and the boys danced to the songs. The dance was quite suggestive and our girls were somewhat embarrased with the dance.

Later we motored over to where the Limestone caves are. I went ashore and did the sevusevu with the "chief" a woman. She said it ws ok to go and swim in the caves but there were people there who want to sell their goods so she had goods in her village she would like to sell also and if we would come afte the cave dive she would be most appreciative. We will

On my return from Sevusevu with the chief, all the girls including Lisa were in the water snorkeling behind the boat. That was a good sign... They were coming out of their shells. After their snorkel they asked to take the little dinghy and do a little exploring.... Ice is now broken... go ahead.. they did and about an hour later returned with empty cococunts full of shell they found.. They were not done so the jumped into the dinghy and off they went to return at dusk for showers and our pizzas. After pizza it was movie time. They sucked it up and watched.

Next blog is from Abby as part of our sharing their adventure with those who read our blog.\]

Cheers.

John
