What's Wrong with this Picture??

Lisa
Hmmm.... Could it be that there is no one in the dingy which is drifting towards the reef?

Yesterday we motored about five miles to the other side of Vanua Balavu to anchor and explore around the bay of Nabavatu. Just as we were pulling into the secluded bay, thinking about where we might put down the anchor for a few days, John went back to snug up the dingy which we had been towing behind us for the last 45 minutes - or so we thought. But alas, no dingy was to be found. He ran back up to the fly bridge and shouted "turn it around - we gotta go find the dingy!" Holy crappoly!! The dingy got away?! So we turned around and hauled butt back the way we came - now on the hunt for the runaway dingy. We found the dingy around the top side of the island, about 2 miles from the secluded bay where we first discovered her missing. The dingy was on its way to the breaking waves of the outer reef. But there was also a lot of shallow reef between Orcinius and the dingy, so John had to hop in the kayak and paddle after it. When he returned, he said it was moving at a pretty goo d clip - as he was having to paddle hard to keep up with it. Hmmm.... Might have almost lost a kayaker as well....

So lesson learned - always tie your dink up with the never-fail bowline knot, or else check six a little more often! We got lucky this time! Really lucky!
