The inverter project is currently on hold, and instead John has dove head first into the davit retrofit project. Yesterday (Monday) the guys took off the solar panels from our davit, then proceeded to completely remove the davit system that also holds our dingy while underway.
From the picture above, our two solar panels have already been removed and taken up top to a shop here at the marina. They were quite heavy and awkward to carry - I was afraid someone was going to lose a toe every time they set it down. Thankfully we have some very strong guys helping us, as well as some help from a couple of fellas that happened to be walking down the dock at the time.
The davit system itself was a bit easier to handle. We used a halyard off the mast to lower everything to the dock.
The plan is to add two additional solar panels and two new wind generators to our power system. So everything is now at the shop nearby where John has given them instruction on how he wants everything welded together. He did his homework while we were back home in the US and brought all the extra pieces needed to complete the project here in Fiji.
Plan for today - more re-wiring! This time the big heavy cables that will go to the batteries. I think I want to be well out of the firing range for this one, so it might be time for me to go for a long walk once they begin!
All for now,
Lisa
