Happy to report the repair to the Port engine is genuine. It has been running at 2300 RPM since we put

it back to gether yesterday. Problem solved but I don't consider it completely fixed until I can get

to the tanks and clean them out good. Maybe a project for Hawaii when the boys get bored.

Little problems are still creeping up on us. Back to the generator. It is like the boat knows we fixed

the problem with the engine so it gets the generator to start the old low oil pressure trick again. It

actually started the day before we discovered the problem with the Port engine so the boat must have

known we were going to find the problem. The low oil pressure wasn't too bad as it would kind of clear

itself and allow the engine to continue to run. Well not today. It finally dropped to 17 psi and shut

down. I tried everything even changing the oil to a slightly higher viscosity. Reset it and started

the engine to have the oil pressue show 17 psi. Ok this is a 200 hour old generator that is vitually

brand new and surely it can't be the sending unit. Last straw but I don't have a spare. I was ticked

so I opened up the cover and felt the end of the sensor where the wire connects. The wire was tight

but the terminal coming out seemed a little loose. Not that I could do anything if that part of it was

bad. I jiggled it and twisted it and tugged on it. Started the generator and the oil pressure climbed

right up to 59 psi which is the cold pressure and after the engine temperature finally climbed up to

the 179 standard the oil pressure dropped slowely down and has settled at 39.4 with no fluctuations.

Darn, that is two problems in two days, neither fixed but manageable. Will get a new sensor when in

Oahu this next week.

All else is good and looking forward to landfall tomorrow late. About 8pm Hawaii time.

All for now.
