Russian Tall Ship
11 August 2011
Living on the water & especially right outside the active Victoria Inner Harbour allows you to see the stream of traffic that comes & goes at this busy time of year. We awoke one morning to see a massive Tall Ship taking up a large portion of harbour & decided we must go have a closer look. As I had just been spoilt with the gift of a new kayak, my preferred choice to view the ship was to paddle over allowing us the upclose & personal view! Darren happily came along side me in the dinghy & off we went with camera in hand. It was an incredible site from the water, putting into perspective just how truly massive & beautiful she is. On shore people lined up for blocks to go aboard to view while rubbing elbows with the well dressed Russian sailors.
Two evenings later while having happy hour on Orion, we spotted the Russian ship leaving the Inner Harbour under escort. Thankfully we had time to grab the camera and take a closer picture to show the scale of this incredible vessel. On the booms, you can see people hanging in the rigging in preparation to hoist the sales once they were clear of the harbour. This gives you scale of just how large she is!
