Baja Ha Ha 2011
25 October 2011
During our trip to Alaska a few years back, & waiting for a weather window to cross Dixon Entrance we met a very vibrant couple who we shared lots of laughs, drinks & meals with. We have remained friends since & had the pleasure of seeing them this summer during their voyage to San Diego! Their trip down was not without adventure, (transcribed in boat talk as mechanical issues) but right now they are under sail making their way to Cabo San Lucas! We are so very happy for them, & just a wee bit jealous!
The Baja Ha Ha rally is a venue for boaters to travel in numbers, making safe passage from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas. This is the 18th year for this popular rally guiding a count of 2500 boats and 9000 participants since it began. The 2011 registration consisted of 172 vessels, with all different makes & models of mainly sailboats, ranging in size from 27' to 65'. The minimum requirement to enter is 27' and the vessel must be open ocean seaworthy.
This years dates are Oct. 23 - November 5th. According to the schedule they will be arriving in Turtle Bay this Thursday, celebrating the first Leg of their journey completed! Upon arrival in Cabo San Lucas, they celebrate their milestone with the annual "Can't believe we cheated death again" party & dance! I imagine that to be a VERY fun event!
Wishing them a safe journey, many new friends & a great time celebrating on their arrival!
Cheers!
