2012 Summer Cruise -Part 1

28 October 2012
Wednesday 20th June

Left work at five to move the boat round to Kip Marina, as it was race night a kip tried to go inshore of the start line , opps nearly had an incident with boat gets a bit shallow , all witnessed by Murray.

Miles sailed 6NM

Thursday 21 st June

Up at six to go to work meanwhile Rennie stayed in bed , her t
Herculean task was to go to the local Sainsburies to stock the boat with food , fill water tanks , charge batteries etc.

Left work at three onto boat by four and departed. Weather was not very nice gusting 30 knots in the marina from East , plan is to head up to the Kyles for the evening.

Due to wind strength set genoa only, on rounding Toward wind now a constant 33 knots and the leech ripped on the genoa ripped again. Wound sail away and motored up the Kyle and picked up a mooring for the night.

As Graeme ( Captain Clamity, also know as brother , boat name Jesica) was accompanying us he arrived a bit later than planned due to an incident in Cardwell Bay.

When Captain Calamity was loading up his yacht in the bay he somehow managed to find himself in the water , with an inflated life jacket and rucksack on , holding both dinghy and yacht he found it a difficult decision which boat to let go off, he opted to let go of the yacht then found that he couldn't board the dinghy so swam with the dinghy back to the yacht and self rescued himself.

Me thinks that someone was watching over him that day.

Log 16 Nm

Friday 22nd June

Up at seven , rain pissin down , no wind , forecast NW 6-8 , with the forecast the plan of rounding the Mull today was abandoned despite valiant attemps of trying to persuade Rennie to a least head down to Campbelltown the desicion of Rennie & Graeme was to head to Portavadie . Motored round to Ardlamont point then sets all sails for a beat up Loch Fine, arrive in the marina very early 12.30 .

Sun came out. , when for a walk .

Drop the Genoa and hand sewed the leech and added an additional wear patch , seems to be bom proof now.
