Off to Peru

13 April 2014
Randy know as Orlando down here!
While we back pack throughout southern Peru via buses and trains, staying in various low budget hotels Nirvana Now will be moored for a month at Panamarina, a secure location along the coast near Portobello. Panamarinas only downfall is that the protective mangroves are infested with tiny biting insects "no seeums or tetras" as some call them. We left with our arms waving as we ran screaming to the bus forgetting our vouchers for the prearranged portions of our travels. What would have been a disaster in past times was only a small problem as due to modern technology I had everything resent to my smart phone. We have been three days in Lima which is Peru's Capital City on the onotably the coast region. A city of 12 million Lima is notably cleaner than anywhere we have travel led abroad. While taking public buses people make an effort to ensure we reach our destination and if they don't know the way themselves they would ask someone else on the bus to assist us.Following Grommets Guide toPeru we spent a day wandering through el Museo Natcion and El Museo Arquelogico Rafael Marco Herrera which is a private collection by Rafael of his arquiologist father's work. An amazing amount of finds laid out categorically with explanations of cultures and chronicological order. With the coastal area being desert the ancient cultures worked wonders in pottery making ceremonially items which include the Moche's "Erotica" collection of pottery depicting copulationof people, animals and skeleton s in numerous positions, linking the earth life and death together. While dazed by the amount of artifacts and knowledge available about the pre Cambrian civilizations dating back 6,000 years BC we are taking a bus 6 hours south to Nasca where we will fly over the lines. We are considering not acting our age and going board surfing down the sand dunes there which are the highest in the world. Randy.
