After a short three months on NIRVANA NOW this winter I returned to work wishing I hadn’t. Now I have quit working and am starting to break away for good. I spent most of October and November hunting and fishing and just returned from White River with 48 white fish 3-4 pounds each. Great therapy to help me feel like myself again!
I fly out on the 25th of November to Panama where NIRVANA NOW is in storage, so the pressure is on to get everything ready. Dawn has the house rented out starting in the spring but I have some work to do to it before I leave.
For NIRVANA NOW I have ordered a new main sail to go with the new roller furler and jib I installed in January. Also ordered is a new galley stove after much pleading by Dawn and ruined dinners from a temperamental stove 32 years old. The boat needs painting above the water line. I painted it five years ago but sun and seawater have taken their toll on the enamel paint I used. This time, hopefully the last, I am using good quality epoxy paint. I have a new sail drive to install as well as a long list of maintenance. There will be a few weeks in the marina before I get to splash, hopefully just before Christmas.
I have a terribly long wait until Dawn quits work and joins me in March. My chum Paul is coming for a few weeks and there are others on the tentative visitor list, but from past experience I will be eagerly waiting for my playmate.
