Nassau, New Providence

20 March 2010
After some sleep we were up and underway just before sunrise. We arrived at the Northwest Channel as the sun rose and we realised that this would be OK to do in the dark (just for future reference).

It was a long slog to windward to reach Nassau but we stuck to it. It was a beautiful sunny day and the seas were calm. Amazing to think we spent all of yesterday sailing in 26' of water and today we were in almost 10,000 ft!!!

Finally we were rewarded with the sight of Atlantis on the horizon. People pay hundreds of dollars to fly here or come on a cruise ship. Amazing to think we have piloted ourselves here on our very own Osprey.

The photo shows the view as we entered Nassau Harbor.

We will be here until Tuesday to let a front pass through, then it is off to the Exumas. One thing we are discovering is that internet access is very sparse so will not get to update every day - be patient!
