Covered in Fog

Sunshine, very little wind, and fog!
We started the trip Sunday with Deb's mom and dad on board headed to Gulf Port with 4 other boats from the marina. It was an enjoyable day ending with sending dad off for his first dinghy ride to the car and the rest of us headed to dinner with the other boats.
Monday was a different day. My mom, Jim and I had a new experience as we were covered in fog until 10:00 am. We left after the fog cleared but were out 30 minutes before we were engulfed in fog and we headed back to the anchorage. An hour later we left again to sunshine and light winds. Around 3:00 the fog started to come in again but before we arrived at the anchorage at Egmont Key (just outside of the mouth of Tampa Bay) we were once again engulfed by fog. 30 minutes from our destination I yelled "turn" Jim yelled "which way" and my response was "either direction" as a ship appeared to have run aground outside of the shipping channel. My mom and I took up lookout positions and we headed around to safely tucked BlueSkies between the Key and the ship, made a salad, chicken and baked potatoes on the grill, ate dinner, showered, and are now sitting down to eat strawberry sundaes and watch a movie.
Fog, 100% humidity, and water dripping everywhere (outside) stayed with us until about noon when we could finally see the shore. What we thought was the ship run aground was actually two barges tied together laying pipe which was in sections about 100' to the north. Fortunately our afternoon encounter with the fog brought us between the barges and the pipe as those items were not on the charts...
Later explored Egmont Key State Park then headed to De Soto Point in time for dinner and the sunset. Tomorrow we head in so Deb can fly to Atlanta, Mom can go back to Indian Harbour Beach, and Jim can get through the list of boat projects.
Fog may greet us tomorrow and change our plans ...
