Nature Along the Way
05 November 2017 | Reedville, VA - Deltaville, VA
Day two was a short trip as the wind and waves were up in the morning which is not conducive to working down below so we stayed at anchor until noon. After refueling in Reedville we headed to Deltaville and along the way to Deltaville we got a photo of a bald eagle on one of the navigation markers. It flew before I got the best shot but this one works. We had several dolphins playing alongside at various times in the afternoon but they are very camera shy or we are too slow to get photos of anything but water.
Also along the way we saw our nemesis for sailing at night, the dreaded unlit fish stakes for fish traps. These are sticks in the bay with nets strung between them to make a wall which guides the fish to a pen at the end where they continue to swim in circles until they get picked up. These fish traps are virtually impossible to see at night and I wouldn't want to get caught up in one. I think it would be a nightmare to get cut away.
Was a short but productive day and we enjoyed seeing a sundog in the late afternoon. Tried a picture of it also but the photos do not do the sundogs justice.
