Ooooh silicone, and not the kinky stuff ;)

Photos: Collapsible, nestable and squishy things.
I still have a bit of a catch-up-writing-thingy-stuff to do about some actual sailing we did on the weekend of the 14/03/13 - 17/03/13 (during which a family member was the first amongst us to christen the vessel... I'll spare details for now but suffice to say, head between the knees didn't work).
First though, I thought I'd share the absolutely fantastic things I've found that'll help to save space in the kitchen (galley for the seafaring sticklers out there) , namely nestables, collapsibles and silicone! I have found a great admiration for all kitchen things silicone because without it I would have been struggling to fit some things in and it doesn't smash, dent, chip or melt.
I have also invested in good quality stacking, air and water tight containers in various sizes for all my dry food which ALL fits into one small cupboard. I was stunned at the amount of space I got out of it.
So, my silicone/ squishy / nestable stuff includes at this stage:
Silicone Collapsibles:
Measuring cup (extends from 1/4 cup to 2 cups)
Kettle
Crock pot (3 litre.. great size)
Funnels x 3 (various sizes)
Mixing bowls 3 (various sizes)
Colander
Other silicone stuff:
Small pinch / sauce bowls x 4
Egg poachers x 4
Fish steamer
Vegetable steamer
Pot holder
Trivet
Oven mat
Spoon rest that hooks onto the side of the pot (looks like a fat little frog.. uber cute)
Also:
Collapsible wooden fruit bowl
Nesting square saucepan/ frying pan set with removable handles.
Nesting kitchen utensils
Thin, flexible chopping mats (various colours)
Not in photo:
Measuring spoons (in the shape of dog paws... also cute!)
Oven mitt
As you can see by the photos, the amount of space saved is just amazing. I may invest in more should I come across anything that I simply couldn't live without but for now, I'm pretty well equipped.
Cheers
Terry :)
