Adventures aboard S/V Sonsie of Victoria

Sonsie on the hard again

22 July 2014 | Vuda Point, Fiji
Sonsie is back on the hard after being lifted out here at Vuda Point Marina. In some ways, she doesn't look as bad as we thought; in other ways, we're half-sickened to see the damage to her stern end!

We've got a fab ocean view, handily placed alongside the reef on which we crashed. The pool and facilities at the First Landing Resort are down the ladder and a few steps away.

Lots of work to do in order to prepare Sonsie aka Humpty Dumpty to be put back together again. The cabin is a tumble of lines and all sorts that usually hide in the lazarettes. We have had to empty them out so the workers can access the stern. Heaps of stuff everywhere! Most nights we manage to doss down on Sonsie, but some nights we treat ourselves by sleeping in the "shoebox" - a small room by the restaurant operated by the marina.

Coral is coming soon for a 10 day land holiday. We shall have fun regardless of not being able to sail. On the agenda: a bus trip to the Orchid Gardens, and a ferry trip to the Yasawas.
