HOEDIC

10 July 2010
Paul Foskett
Left Loctudy at 06.30 FST on the 8 July heading for Hoedic a small island to the South East of Belle Isle.

Arrived at 17.30 and anchored to the West of the harbour, opposite the Old Lifeboat Station as suggested in the pilot book. Holding is very good; although as the fast ferries arrive or leave the harbour we do get rolled a bit by their wash.

As luck would have it, whilst having our supper on board, a French Customs Vessel arrived and picked up one of the ferry mooring buoys. We could see them lowering their RIB ready for a visit.

Sure enough the RIB headed over toward us and the other French boat anchored nearby. He made a quick pass of our stern to read our name, and then called on his radio to the mother ship. He looked at the French boat, called in the information and then returned to us.

Tying alongside he ask for permission to come aboard. As if you could or would refuse them. The two guys were very pleasant and had a look at all our ships papers. Thanked us and them left.

In the album you can see pictures of the island from the boat as we did not go ashore. Note we did not tack any pictures of the two customs guys just in case they objected, however you can see the customs Vessel.
