We left Bora Bora at 10.00 local time which is - 11 hours (behind) UTC (GMT), on Tuesday the 12 June 12, heading for our next island called Niue.

Noon to Noon distance through the water = 171 miles
Distance to go 314 miles
Noon to Noon distance over the ground = 152 miles The wind maintained 12 to 16 knots until about 18.00 and then started to pick-up eventually averaging at about 25 knots, with gusts up to 32 knots. This has been maintained right through until noon local time today.
So with this wind we have made an excellent mileage figure for the 24 hours
Wildlife report
Again a few sea birds have been seen, and we are also now starting to see flying fish again, but not much else. One flying fish made it on the deck!!

Passage To Niue Day 6, 17 June 2012 We left Bora Bora at 10.00 local time which is - 11 hours (behind) UTC (GMT), on Tuesday the 12 June 12, heading for our next island called Niue.
Day 6
Log reading at noon is 16785
Noon to Noon distance through the water = 137 miles Distance to go 466 miles
Noon to Noon distance over the ground = 127 miles As yesterday, the wind maintained 12 to 16 knots until about 14.00 and then started to drop and at 18.00 with the wind between 4 to 6 knots and a boat speed of between 2 to 3 knots, the iron sail was turned on yet again and we started to motor. However we did manage to start sailing again at 00.00 but still not a good day mileage wise

Again a few sea birds have been seen, and we are also now starting to see flying fish again, but not much else.

Karacool (53 foot Cat) is now 14 miles ahead of us
We are starting to get a few commercial vessels pass us, but not close enough to see by eye but only pick up on the AIS. We have a vessel described as a "PLEASE CRAFT" to our port side about 15 miles away.
However with dimensions of 75 m long and 10 m wide, with a draft of 6.5 m it is one hell of a sized pleasure craft!!!

We left Bora Bora at 10.00 local time which is - 11 hours (behind) UTC (GMT), on Tuesday the 12 June 12, heading for our next island called Niue.

Noon to Noon distance through the water = 116 miles Distance to go 592 miles
Noon to Noon distance over the ground = 111 miles The wind maintained 12 to 16 knots until about 14.00 and then started to drop and at 17.30 with the wind between 4 to 6 knots and a boat speed of between 2 to 3 knots, the iron sail was turned on and we started to motor. So not a good day mileage wise

Day 4, 15 June 2012 We left Bora Bora at 10.00 local time which is - 11 hours (behind) UTC (GMT), on Tuesday the 12 June 12, heading for our next island called Niue.
Day 4
Log reading at noon is 16532
Noon to Noon distance through the water = 140 miles Distance to go 703 miles
Noon to Noon distance over the ground = 131 miles The wind has maintained 12 to 16 knots
We kept the bag of fear (The Parasailor ) up until 17.00 and then changed to the cruising shoot as the wind moved more on to the beam. We have kept this combination up for the full 24 hours, and as can be seen from our travelled distance we have made much better progress.
The wind / weather forecast is for the wind speed to stay the same over the next few days, so our passage speed should be maintained, we hope!!

We left Bora Bora at 10.00 local time which is - 11 hours (behind) UTC (GMT), on Tuesday the 12 June 12, heading for our next island called Niue.

Noon to Noon distance = 106 miles
Distance to go 834 miles
The wind has increased to 12 to 16 knots.
We now have just the bag of fear up (The Parasailor ) and a very small amount of main to balance the boat, and we are making between 5 to 7 knots in the right direction. The wind / weather forecast is for the wind speed to stay the same over the next few days, so our passage speed should be maintained, we hope!!

Distance to go 933 miles
Very light winds at present which are between 8 to 11 knots, We now have just the genoa up and a small amount of main to balance the boat, and we are making between 4 to 4.5 knots in the right direction.
The wind / weather forecast is still for the wind speed to increase over the next few days, so our passage speed should increase, we hope!!
