Crusing 2005 pt. 2

Since it is full moon time, the tides now rise & fall about 13' for a few days. At low tide I go to the dock nearest the walk ramp to see what critters are in the shallow water. I see a few little crabs, some tiny fish, several sea stars, and a big white sunflower star with 10-12 arms on him.
There are a few taxi type boats that come in and out each day carrying cargo & people to job sites. They hold about 10-12 people. Some go to logging camps, some work at the resorts that only boats & floatplanes can get to. They tend to go too fast in the marina and make our boat rock a lot.
Barry is re-caulking a pair of cleats for lines on the deck as we have a couple of leaks inside. Always hard to find where the leaks are coming from.
We rode our bikes to a Chinese buffet for lunch. Was good. Glad the ride was downhill after lunch.
Barry is now picking up a new anchor & speaker at the marine store. We spent about 2 weeks cleaning up after the rats. Still occasionally find a smelly spot. It was really awful, and we are glad that it is about over. We put out bowls of ground coffee in several lockers. It is supposed to help absorb the smell.
I bought a little chives plant and a tiny tomato plant. I enjoy watching them grow, & if they make it, maybe we will get to eat some. A seal & loon swim near our boat every day. The gulls and terns fly overhead and really start squawking when an eagle flies over.
The rather cold weather may be over now. It has been quite warm for most of this last week. The nights are in the 50's instead of the 30's & 40's.
We have finally put the sails back on the boat so she looks like a sailboat again. A few cruising sail and power boats have come in to re-provision with groceries and fuel and are headed for Alaska. Maybe we will do that next year.
