A late start to union island so that the sun is overhead and we can see the reefs better. Union island is a gem, a wonderful place with a protected anchorage nice people and good though limited provisioning opportunity. Happy Island is an island/ bar on the end of the reef which has been created by the owner with thousands of discarded conch shells. There is no mains electricity or water, electricity is provided by one D400 and 1000watts of solar power and water is caught from the roof and stored in very large plastic tanks. The setting is perfect and we have good few rum and cokes which are rather strong as I suspect rum is cheaper than coke. Ilga is a rum casualty and ducks out of the pizza ashore but requests a takeout for later.
