Noodling!

Life is pretty slow on PANNIKIN at the moment. We did manage to sell our bits & pieces at the boat jumble sale... so very happy... & it made a few dollars to spend at happy hour!
We are waiting to hear from boatyards in Trinidad regarding a lift out so we can re anti foul PANNIKIN’s bottom & some other odd jobs. We’re planning to do this between 20-27 July so we are just killing time.
There is a real community of cruisers here as Grenada is safe from the hurricanes. A radio net runs every morning at 7.30am to let us know what’s on socially, who’s got what for sale & local businesses/marinas also promote happy hours, bingo nights, movie nights, band nights.... you name it. We have discovered that a bus arrives at Secret Harbour marina every Friday morning at 9.30am to take cruisers to the supermarket, local produce store & bulk buy store. It does this also every Tuesday at Clark’s Court marina. There is always plenty to do. Ange has joined a “noodling” group (water aerobics with the help of a noodle – you’re in deep water!!!) which gets together every morning Monday – Friday for an hour’s exercise. It’s good fun! There seems to be a lot more talking that exercising going on with some though!
Tuesday we walked into town – a hot & hilly walk. Steve managed a hair cut & we found the local frozen yoghurt shop everyone raves about. Really nice on a very hot day. We also did some more exploring of Grand Anse & its shopping facilities.
Wednesday we headed around the southern end of the island & up the west coast to Moliniere Point in Dragon Bay – a marine protection zone, so we are on a mooring buoy. We were joined by Jeremy & Susie later on in the day & it was really wonderful to catch up with them. I hope they enjoyed the few little pressies from OZ!
Thursday we headed around the point for some snorkelling over manmade statues on the ocean floor.... everything from groups of figures standing in a circle holding hands to a guy riding a bicycle & someone sitting at a desk with a typewriter. Apparently these were photographed for National Geographic a number of years ago & have become quiet famous. The fish here are extremely friendly & every time you turned around there was a big school right behind following you or including you in their school. It was great! Thursday afternoon we headed further up the coast & anchored at Black Bay Point. Nibbles & drinks on JOY & an early night.
Today we hope to do some snorkelling here against the shore & then not sure -tomorrow we are expecting a lot of rain!
