Wednesday Is The Day!

Again more paperwork! The boat measurement was a piece of cake. The canal authority guy was lovely & it was a pleasure learning what our next steps are. We are surprised at how easy it’s been doing our own paperwork.
The weekend was a bit of a relax. We did some walking in the jungle to try & find some monkeys & sloths, a bit of laundry & some Mexican Train Dominoes yesterday. We met some lovely people on Friday night at the Potluck & everyone had lots of advice & information that we will remember. We have decided to head to Mexico before heading across to the South Pacific islands.
This morning we went into Colon & paid our fees for the canal transit. Colon is not a nice town & we spent as little time there as possible! Then it was a long wait until 6pm when we could phone the canal authority to get our transit time. At the moment we are going through on Wednesday, but won’t find out our time until tomorrow. We have to call after 6pm....Tomorrow is going to be a busy day – grocery shopping to feed our line handlers & canal advisor, getting fuel & doing some laundry. All the time we hear the howler monkeys calling... Shelter Bay marina is a pretty special place!
There is one camera working at the canal at the moment... usually there are three. You can watch us entering the Gatun locks.... we will be behind a huge container ship so may not see us! Go to www.pancanal.com/eng/ Click on the Multimedia tab & then Gatun Locks under the Live Cameras option. Can’t promise anything!
