SV Panta Rhei Retirement Trip
No room at the inn
Larry Nelson
17 June 2011 | Santa Rosalia, Baja Mexico
We are getting pretty far north (though there is much further to go) in the Sea of Cortez. We've arrived at Santa Rosalia which is the last significant town. We hoped to get a slip at the marina, but there were no slips available. We are anchored inside the breakwater. Its not so bad. We'll talk to the marina operators and see if there is a que we can sign up for.

This town is famous for its hot dogs. I happen to really like hot dogs so my mouth is watering. This is also a copper mining community, at least it was until the copper ran out. So there is a lot of history. This is looking like a lot of fun. It is very different than Mulege which is tourist based. (The guide book says this town has few tourists. We haven't been ashore yet to make our own assessment).

The picture shows Panta Rhei where we did find a place at the dock. See the sun protection (i.e. the boom tent)?
