Molcahete - Best in Town

Some of you blog readers may have come to the conclusion that retiring on a boat is an oxymoron. You might think that our blog recounts the retirement logical equivalent of trying to take a close up picture of a sunset! But NO!
It is time to show you something good about our forced retirement in Mazatlan. So this post is about molcahete, a beef and vegetable stew served in what appears to be a stone pot that is so hot that the juice boils continuously while you try to eat the stew. It comes with any combination of beef, chicken or shrimp. The vegetables include some mild chilis, avocado, cactus, carrots and potatoes and there is cheese. Since it is so hot, the cheese can be combined with anything in the spoon you are about to sip from. This makes every spoonful delicious. It is unlike any stew you have ever eaten before.
If you leave this world without trying molcahete, heaven may send you back (reincarnate you) to complete the experience.
