We are back in Seattle
It feels like home. Of course we are not in Silshole. Maybe we will be, someday, but there is a list and we are on it. In the meantime we are at Bainbridge Island Marina.

The dinghy holds air again
It wasn't very nice of the bear to tear the fabric across a seam. We were worried that we couldn't patch it but tried anyway. The glue had a job to do and it did it!

We were visiting the Anan Bear Observatory south of Wrangell. It is one of the best places to visit in all of SE Alaska BECAUSE it has bears. But (as we learned) there is a dark side to this bear concentration. And of course, there is a story to tell.

Passage Notes 4: Motoring Through Light Airs
Our floorboards are all swelling. I got out the hand plane and made a little space. I also reinstalled the anchor wobble stopper. It makes a clunking noise in storms without that.
I have an idea how to stop the leak in the Groco strainer. That may get worked on tomorrow.
We are motoring now. Wind died to less than 5 knots and we were trying to use that to go due west. Not our destination. We brought 30 extra gallons on top of the 200 we normally carry. We decided to use some of that. Between 20-30N we need a motor. We'll use whatever wind we get, but there isn't much.
The new batteries are working wonderfully. Two of the old batteries had completely failed. Big difference.
