We are from farming country Alberta but always had a passion for water. That passion was satisfied for years by paddling trips in northern Canada or coastal BC until Demelza entered our lives in 2003. That is when we upsized and took the plunge. consideration. Fits her to a tee. There were a number of conventional Vancouvers made in Europe but this model being the pilot house was made in Taiwan by the Tayana boat yard. She started out being a bit special. She is the first and only boat we have owned so over the years since purchase in 2003 when I have had people lay compliments (believe me I have had many) and offer to purchase on me I have just smiled ; all I did was buy her. I take no credit. My most recent memory is an older French gentleman in Utaroa French Poly. Demelza sat between two huge expensive yachts on the dock but she is the small little boat that shone. The words "superb" and "magnefique" came through with that strong French accent. He liked my boat. She does turn heads wherever she goes. Our good friends,Hugh and Christine Richards the previous owners of Demelza sailed her around the world between the years 1993-2000. Recently they have completed their book "Reflections on Three Oceans". Who is on the cover but Demelza. She is not a perfect boat; that does not exist. Sometimes at anchor I wish for more room but it is all about trade offs in boating. She IS a special boat that takes good care of her crew.
