Bayou Canot

It is starting to sound repetitive but another hot sunny day! We were going to head into Mobile today but would have arrived at low tide at dusk so change of plans.
We met up with a long tow as we were approaching a bend in the river. He advised that we should hug the shore as close as possible on his port side. As he passed we pointed towards his stern and headed into his wash to take his waves square and not roll. As we went into the first wave there was a loud gun shot right behind us! We both turned around and on the deck of a home there was a man pointing a large rifle type gun into the bush and bang he shoots again! Not sure what was going on there but it was scary.
So 45 miles down river we decide to go up a creek that is mentioned in our guide book.
It is narrow but the depth was good. We continued about half mile up the bayou until it opened slightly to give us swing room.
The write up for this anchorage says, "don't let the owls scare you as they sound like howling wolves in the trees at night". We shall see!
