Life Continues

Well I have spent 10 days on Pegasus getting things in order. Steve is still working. We will be revising our plans this summer due to an illness. We will need to be closer to home so the cruising may not be as we had desired, but we will cruise as we are able, and share some of those times.

Retirement

Well, Wednesday was my last of work! Steve & I arrived Friday. Pegasus was launch. Diesel was running well so we headed into channel to await bridge opening, well there was air in fuel line so the engine quit! Having lived through this before we dropped the anchor to access the situation. Steve bled [...]

Clear, sunny with winds coming from SW. Sailing @ 3-4 knots with 100,000 flies. Not sure where came from, and how is it their little wings can take them so for off shore? Winds die to 2-2 1/2 knots about half way to Egg Harbor, then it's flies gone wild! As we enter harbor now under engine power with about 2 miles to go the winds pick-up significantly, which makes the docking difficult. We always have 1 landing a season that is not pretty.

Wonderful time in Egg Harbor, relaxing, wondering around, connecting with Dan & Penny who's home port is there. The sunsets here are incredible as the harbor opens to the west.

On the return sail south winds from the N. at 10- 15 knots, under reefed main & jib we ran down wind @ 5-6 knots. Now that's what makes the work worth it.

Steve will post photos and maybe a video soon.

Having lived through this before we dropped the anchor to access the situation. Steve bled the fuel line and we were up and running. Launching is never without some anxiety.

Again, another work weekend, (water temp is still chilly). Steve replace holding tank cover! Ick! While he was making that I was cleaning the tank! Ick again.
Changed water hose and prepared deck for extensive waxing. Steve returned home to continue to work & I remain on Pegasus to work and enjoy some post-employment time.

Photos will follow soon, when I figure it out, always something new to learn!

With that- I have to say the boat yard is a wonderful place to be. It is the beginning of social contacts we will have all season. We catch up on old friends and find everyone has made it though the winter unscathed, all are healthy! We work hard but stop to share ideas, summer plans and there is always someone who has a better/easier way of doing a tough project. It becomes our social community.

Steve & I have worked hard this weekend, chatted about our goals, anxieties and hopes for the summer. It's been good. LAUNCH DATE MAY 18th!!

We plan to sail Lake Michigan, crossing to Frankfort, MI 1st. Then it will be where the wind blows us, literally. Mackinaw Is. is a goal, we have never been. We hope to meet & establish friends along the way.

Steve & I will have to rely on and work with each other to make this work. Trust will be in play here as well, in each other and our God, who is with us always, and who is utimately the one in control.

So as we go so He goes with us!

We spent a couple of weekends getting Pegasus ready for launch. We attend to the usual things, plus we need to fix a small navigation error and possibly change the cutlass bearing.
