Friends visit and Todd goes back to work

Well it's been a bit of a whirlwind since Todd left to work at the San Diego boat show put on by Sunroads Resort Marina. I had good intentions of polishing stainless and varnishing the cap rail but was pleasantly interrupted by a surprise visit from a Snezena, a good friend from OB who is an avid surfer. This prompted a couple of day trips up to Sayulita just North of Punta Mita. I am happy to say I was actually able to make some turns and didn't run anyone over in the process! Of course you can't have a bad day when the water is 78 degree's either! We had an entertaining evening in El Centro too, with lots of chances to practice Spanish. Speaking of which, my Spanish continues to slowly improve and I am enjoying the twice weekly classes. Today is actually the Dia de la Candaleria, which involves the person who found the plastic figurine in their piece of Rosca de Reyes (Kings Cake) back on January 6 th, cooking tamales and serving atole to their friends. This seems very similar to the tradition in Louisiana, and in general I support any feast day! Next in town was Dina from San Francisco, who is a seasoned crew member here on Wildflower with the coastline from Mazatlan to PV under her belt from our last cruise in 2006. We didn't seem to get too far from the resort here, but managed to boogie board, ride the crocodile slide, catch Snook off the dock at night with a couple of locals, and keep the neighbors up with our singing and dancing. Our one night of culture was an amazing meal at Cafe Des Artistes, which started with mezcalini cocktails and duck tacos with black mole...and finished with a 3 mousse dessert that looked like a flower pot and a flaming coffee table show! It was heaps of fun having the girls here, and gave me the motivation to tackle the boat jobs when they left. I have 2 coats of gloss to put on before Monday when Todd returns..guess I better get to it! Cheers!
