What an expensive day
09 June 2017 | At anchor Brisbane
Sun sun sun
Today I wet into Brisbane. I set off in the dingy for the 1km ride to the marina, when only a third of the way there the motor stopped, (out of petrol but not my fault) so not to worry, all I do is get the oars out and row, about 40 minutes later I am just passing a small fishing boat, who ask if I would like some petrol my reply was no but how far is it to the marina (500m) now after 10 minutes of rowing I had only just passed the fishing boat. they offered me fuel again. This time I accepted and got on my way, it took me over an hour to get this small distance. The purpose was for me to go and get some of my tablets from the doctors, I waited yet another hour past my appointment time and was seen by the doc. Now I know that Robin Hood wore a mask but down here they know how too fleece someone, and I think I was that person, over $400 later I had my hands on a months worth of tabs and seriously thinking I cannot sustain this sort of money bleed (how long will my trip of a lifetime last). Hopefully when I get to New Caledonia my resupply from the UK will manage to arrive.
So on my way from the Doctors I came across a street that was completely dedicated to The Bee Gees (take a look at the other pics in the album) it was great and there were lots of other people milling about so it took me ages to get the pictures without them in. I also came across a monument dedicated to the Australia military. I got back to the marina just before it got dark, so Ruud had to up anchor on Gabber and come and rescue me. Today despite it costing me almost 300 English pounds was a good day. Unlike some back at home with the result of the election (nuff said about that me thinks). We are still waiting for kit from Holland so could be here for maybe a bit longer than a week. will let you know when we are ready to sail.
Thanks to all who left messages for me. I do appreciate it but it is quite difficult to reply directly to you. P.xx
