See you next year
18 December 2017
Last night I went to the bar for coffee and a banana & chocolate 🍫 crepe, it was lush, all very nice in the late sunshine ☀️, this morning we had our laundry picked up from the marina entrance and told that we could get it back about 17:00, which we did.
I'm getting very frustrated with all the same beggars who won't leave us alone at all, because somebody decided to be a soft touch and gave in to the almost constant "give me €1" from the school kids to the old cripple in the wheelchair, it is unrelenting. But what I did notice is that most of them are rather well dressed, some are not, I genuinely feel sorry for the truly destitute but it seems to be every second person, I have seen poor before and this doesn't seem right to me.
On returning to the boat⛵️we did a repair to the main sail, several of the clips holding it to the mast had broken off, we went to the shop and bought the bits then the sail went up and down until the task was complete, hard work but good fun.
This afternoon I have spent two hours up the mast on the boat⛵️pop riveting some trunking for some cables so that we can install the new SatPhone, we still have work to do with that, also we are going to fit a new solar panel just to give us a bit more power.
At 16:30 I called mum using FaceTime, I also had a pleasant surprise when my brother John popped into view, the wi-fi around here is appalling so our contact was very short and broken up, maybe next time it will be better. We have had dark clouds ⛅️ rolling around for a few hours but it's so warm and every one around the bar is having a good time.
In the bar, I was approached by a chap called John who's 10 year old son had his leg amputated in a boating ⛵️accident, after 10 years he has finally been paid out by the MOD. in 2007 he was voted young sailor of the year.
Last night 16 Dec I went into town and spent ages watching what turned out to be a dance 💃 competition between two groups ( similar to West Side Story) it started in the street with maybe 30 odd couples until only two pairs were left. The usual beggars were harassing me still, I was also proposed to by 5 or 6 hookers, what a way to increase ones self esteem. As I was returning to the boat ⛵️I met up with Robert for as he said " a night cap" which turned in to a 3 ish hour session we met a whole load of Korean fishermen who can drink like fish 🐟.
Today I met an interesting Turkish chap who is going to do a solo circumnavigation of the Earth he has no electronics what so ever he says that he is following the same route that another chap did 50 Year's ago. Good luck to him. My rather jazzy and expensive carbon fibre sunglasses 😎 blew off my head into the smallish gap on the marina, so before they disappeared underneath the pontoon, I dove down and managed to grab them, in doing so I got rather wet and a little stuck, the others on the floating bar thought I had fallen down the hole and pulled me back up, I now have a few extra scratches but I still have my sunglasses 😎.
Today we have taken two new crew members onboard they seem very nice 👍, so we are now truly an international boat ⛵️with 2 Aussie, 1 Brit, 1 Spaniard, 1 French & 1 Greek.
We are leaving today for the Caribbean so all the food 🥘 has been purchased and put away all over and within the boat⛵️. The picture is the closest I can get to a Christmas tree. This is my final blog for this year, it would be very nice to hear 👂 from you all.
I WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄 AND A HAPPY 😃 NEW YEAR . love 💖 and best wishes for 2018 P.
